Make your physical premises more accessible with practical, in-person reviews informed by lived experience of disability.
Walk & Access is designed for businesses and organisations that want to identify barriers across their physical environments. We examine how disabled people may experience entering, navigating and using your premises, helping you understand where everyday features or arrangements could create difficulties.
From identifying entrances and navigating corridors to locating facilities and accessing customer service points, we focus on the practical experience of using your space.
Our approach draws on lived experience of disability and visual impairment to help your organisation recognise barriers that might otherwise go unnoticed.
## What’s included?
Your £850 package includes:
An initial meeting:** Discuss your premises, accessibility concerns and organisational priorities.
Two in-person accessibility reviews:** Review your agreed premises at two points within the package validity period.
Identification of accessibility barriers:** Understand where physical features, layouts or everyday arrangements could make access more difficult for disabled people.
Real-world impact:** Gain insight into how identified barriers could affect people’s ability to enter, navigate and use your premises.
Practical recommendations:** Receive suggestions to help address the barriers identified.
Prioritised actions:** Understand which improvements to consider first.
What do we review?
Depending on your premises and the agreed scope, your reviews may cover:
Entrances and access routes.
Navigation and wayfinding.
Visibility, contrast and identifying important features.
Lighting, glare and shadows.
Reception desks, counters and customer service points.
Seating, toilets, waiting areas and other relevant facilities.
Layout and movement around the premises.
Customer journeys and access to services.
Every environment is different. We agree the scope before each visit and focus on practical accessibility barriers rather than simply checking whether particular features are present.
How does the package work?
Your package includes two in-person accessibility reviews, which must both be completed within **12 months of your first review.
The second review can be used to revisit barriers identified during the first visit, assess changes your organisation has made or examine further accessibility concerns within the agreed scope.
Visit dates will be arranged by mutual agreement, subject to availability.
Who is it for?
Walk & Access is suitable for businesses and organisations that welcome customers, visitors or service users onto their premises.
This may include:
Shops and retail environments.
Offices and workplaces.
Educational settings.
Healthcare facilities.
Hospitality venues.
Community spaces and other customer-facing environments.
Whether you manage a single site or a more complex physical environment, the aim is to help you understand how accessible your premises are in practice and identify opportunities for improvement.
More than a checklist
Accessibility is not just about whether a ramp, sign or accessible facility exists. It is about whether people can find it, reach it and use it.
A doorway may be difficult to identify. A step may be easy to overlook because its edge has little contrast. A service counter may be available but difficult to locate or approach.
These everyday barriers can affect a person’s independence and ability to access your services.
Walk & Access helps your organisation recognise these challenges and take practical steps towards creating a more accessible environment for disabled customers, visitors and service users.
